    Did I say Nigerians should stand behind ALL of Chinese and Indians??? Can you read English? What I am saying is all should stand in line purely based on priority date, no matter whether he is Chinese, Indian, Japanese, or Nigerian. Yes, we were aware of the quota. yes, the quota has been there for a while. are you aware of robbery in this country? does that mean robbery is good? does that mean we should not do anything about that?

    You got to be kidding. Why not rename the "World" as "India" . Typical disdain. The quota was IN the system before anyone got here by H1B, so your argument is fallacious. We were all aware of the quota when we got here.

    There are highly skilled programmers from Nigeria also, just not in the same numbers. So you want them to stand behind all of China and India ?

    Just speaking 100 languages and celebrating 100 festivals and females not mingling with males thus keeping away from social life etc...is not culture. Ur every day news is culture as well. Wake up to reality and make the choice when u have the liberty to make it.

    All said, its ur choice end of the day. Weighing b/w the good and bad and if ur tax money is put to good use or what? I think the writing on the wall is clear and can easily make out the differences b/w white and black. But again thats just me. 5 fingers are not the same.

    I think you got culture and problems mixed up......

    What you have listed are problems our country is facing right now.....

    While speaking 100 languages, celebrating 100 festivals and learning same values that we, our parents and their parents believed in is really a culture......

    Dudes & Dudettes,

    Hasnt the issue of processing order been beaten to death?

    I understand the momentum here....not trying to rain on a parade or anything...but shouldnt we be a little practical. How long is litigation going to take? Wont only naive lawyers even take this up?

    USCIS can always pull the security reason trump card here.

    moreover, during the last quarter...in the effort to not waste visas, low hanging easy to approve cases with later priority dates have gotten approved. wudnt u rather have that than visas going waste?

    We have been patient for a very long time....lets see how the dates move in the 1st 2 quarters of fiscal 09.

    My personal suggestion....stop worrying aout GC...there are much bigger things in life to worry about. :)

    Let's NOT be hypocrites. We are just venting out our frustrations of these never ending Visa Bulletin life...
    We all know that we respect each other and value much more than these occasional emotional outbursts. Donors or Non Donors, USCIS treats us as same shit.

    My take would be, if people want to Donate or find that their Donation could help their cause, they will Donate. We can only request people to Donate and put forth our 'Selling points', which I think Pappu, Ameya and others are doing it already.

    Please don't stoop down to the level of hating each other on the basis of 'Donor' Vs 'Non-Donor'.

    I honestly, think IV should rename that to 'Paid member' or 'Privileged' or 'Subscriber', IMHO, it's NO DONATION. People Donate because they expect something in return...we all want other to donate so that we can have bigger impact, but this is definitely NOT the way to go about it.

    Hope it makes sense.

    GC comes with a 'sleeve' to keep the card safely. The pouch in the sleeve have special silver lining to prevent 'de-magnetisation' over the period. Please, take due care as its not easy to get replacement.

    I was advised so, at SSA. As I was about to put the card in my wallet (Ya, I went to SSA to update my ssn) gentleman at the window interrupted me. I thought I should share this small tip with IVian fella.

    the point here is not how long its gonna take.     Its not that I haven't made any efforts to reconcile with my ex-employer. I have tried and still trying to get them to have a civil conversation and settle this. But the more I try, i beleive, they r thinking the more scared i am and are being arrogant by not replying to any of my emails or phone calls. My reconciling efforts are giving them wrong hints i beleive. I am definetly stressed about this,thats true, but i am not scared because of all the info i gathered, I know even they do file a suit, I will be on the winning side. though i have option to go directly to DOL or USCIS and can show all the proofs i have regarding the deductions they have made, i haven't made till today just because of the kind of relationship we had earlier and also concerned about other h1bs who r with the company right now. I dont want their GC's to be in jeopardy. but if employer doesn't make the effort from his side, and pulls the thread till it breaks, i can't help it.

    It sounds easy..but funding drives are not always easy when reality strikes...how about starting a spreadsheet with names and ph# of people who are willing to contribute $100 for this lawsuit. As soon as we have the 1000th name, we start depositing money to a bank account. 100 grand is not small amount and I am sure we can find a good enough lawyer to start a lawsuit for that kind of money.

    I and my wife are ready with our 100 bucks each.....and can help with maintaing the spreadsheet etc.... how do we get those 1000 names now....or do we even have support of 1000 people around here...that is the biggest question.

    All the best asdcrajnet.. Both countries are equally good, we have lived in both.. so we know how to adjust..

    Few points that you may need to find out before you go..

    1) Apply for POI for your kid, you may have already done it. There is a restriction that you need to visit nearby police station every 180 days if your son is in India (because he is a US citizen), try to find out more about that and see what you can do to avoid it (may be get a India visa as opposed to a POI)
    If you go to a police station, 100% guarantee they will ask for a bribe or make things difficult for us.
    2) The school fees for non-Indian citizens is very high, because your son falls under NRI category, try to find out about it, and if possible share with us too.

    Everything is good back home but there are few issues which I see are a problem,

    1) Nothing moves ahead without bribery, if we need our stuff to move up the queue, say if it is land registration or getting approval for something - it will not move with bribery and any govt office related work we need to wait a lot and service is bad, unlike here in US there is no bribing and things are so streamlined and good. We can talk about ethics and moral values and not give bribe but then our need will never get fulfilled for years if we decide to go as per queue.
    2) If you are in IT, the work hours are horrible, most of IT companies are outside city limits, we will end up going early in the morning and return late night (because hey we need to talk to onsite guys). If an employee leaves at 5:30 or 6 PM it means there he is not working - not sure when this culture would change there. Again most of them work on saturdays, so only sunday is a holiday, here in US i can leave work at 5 PM or 5:30 and come home and spend time with family.
    3) Commute is very tough back home - too much traffic than what the roads can handle, there is traffic in US too but it is decent traffic, everyone follows rules and lane sense is there. Back home it is really horrible.

    For your PD you have waited for a long time, I would suggest you wait for 1-2 more years and give it a try. We can always go back to India no one is going to stop us, but the return is not very easy. Nowadays h1b approvals and stamping has become a nightmare.

    Same boat guys. July 07 filer and have not received my FP yet. My lawyer thinks it should not be a problem at all, and I read of a case here who got his GC without ever fingerprinting.

    Am about to renew my EAD and AP in a couple of week's time and that is the only hope left. I sincerely hope not receiving FP is not a major drawback.
